It’s great to lose yourself in a great book but sharing a book with your family can also be rewarding. Reading together as a family is a great way to cultivate a culture of reading among your children and it can also help you explore certain topics and ideas as a family too. It can also inspire your kids not to be afraid to express themselves either.
You could read a chapter a night before bedtime, that way you can follow the story together, create some quality time together and build up a sense of anticipation about what’s going to happen next in the story. The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by CS Lewis
Part of the Narnia series by CS Lewis, this is a great standalone story in its own right. A group of World War II evacuees discovers a magical world through the back of a wardrobe but how they treat this new discovery leads them along different paths.
A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning by Daniel Handler
The first in the Lemony Snicket series of books, this follows the orphaned Baudelaire children and their attempts to prevent Count Olaf from stealing their inheritance.
