Here are some great ideas on how to mark St Patrick’s Day with your family.
Make St Patrick’s Day crafts
This may involve going to the store and buying all the shades of green paper and card you can find. You can make greetings cards, cut out shamrocks or draw pictures of leprechauns and use them to decorate your house.
Bake some Irish bread
Get your kids active in the kitchen by digging out some recipes for traditional Irish baking such as potato bread and soda bread. They’ll get a great kick out of baking it and it can form part of a nice St Patrick’s Day lunch with a nice boiled ham.
Go to your local St Patrick’s Day parade
Find out where your nearest St Patrick’s Day parade, wrap up (it can still be a little chilly in March) and wear you green. Many parades now feature a diverse range of floats and entertainment, with some towns and cities running street festivals alongside the main parade.
Read some Irish fairytales
There are a whole host of Irish myths and legends out there. You may need to go to the bookstore or library to finds them, but you can get lost the magical worlds of fairies, giants and leprechauns.
